What an amazing coincidence! My long lost high school friend, Beth, in particular inspired me to start a new feature on my blog called “Other People’s Cats” after I found out that she is a cat owner. That being said, I have been getting such amazing and wonderful feedback on the blog from old friends and family members who I found through social networking. I am finding out many of them are cat lovers like me and I am hearing some great stories. Zee, Zoey, and Zeuss Catt were always on the bandwagon – they set up facebook and twitter accounts long before I did! The reach out was amazing – I have re-connected with so many people that I never thought would be in my life again and it really feels great. My Mom lives a half hour away, if that, and I can barely find the time to visit her… So, call it my mid-life crisis, but very recently, I felt compelled to reach out to people in my past and gave facebook a try. Well, I don’t know about you, but I rarely, if ever, picked up the phone or bothered to write a letter to all the people I used to go to college and high school with, let alone long lost relatives. So, when facebook and twitter came out, I wanted nothing to do with it – why can’t people just pick up the phone or write a letter like we used to? Why do we have to broadcast our lives to the world? Does anyone really care what I just tweeted or what my “status” is? ![]() I think it’s just one of those “things” when you get older – you fight change and wonder why we have to have the newest and best phones, computers, and gadgets when what we already have works just fine (at our house, we refer to it as the “Andy Rooney” complex). Well here I am in this vast technological wonderland having to eat my words. ![]()
